Ballard Farmers Market Today

Spring means it's time to plant those seeds and bulbs to ensure that your garden will be full of blooms this summer. Luckily, you can pick up all you'll need to get started at neighborhood farmers markets. Check out Worm Tea Concentrate from Sequim Prairie Star Enterprises, being sold at the Ballard Farmers Market. As appetizing as it sounds, it's not for you to drink--it's essentially worm poop. Pour the nutrient-rich concoction onto your soil to promote growth and repel insects (for more info, check out Ballard Farmers Market's blog). Now you'll need something to put into all that fertile soil--and since there's no rule that says you can only visit one farmers market per week, we suggest making your way over to the University District to pick up some bulbs from Choice Bulb Farms in Mount Vernon. If you really can't wait for those bulbs to turn into blooms, pick up a bunch of fresh-cut spring flowers, like daffodils and pussy willows, to tide you over until you have a garden full of your very own. 5330 Ballard Ave. N.W. Sundays, 10 a.m.-3 p.m.
