Beer Hydrates You Better Than Water

beerbeerbeer9.jpg
What is this glorious news? Well, some Spanish researchers had some folks run on a treadmill in sweltering temperatures to the point of exhaustion, then had half the group drink water, while the other half drank Spanish lager (two pints, to be exact). And they found that the beer was slightly better at rehydrating our bodies than water!

As Jonathan Kauffman points out, this study did not include the electrolyte-having specialty waters so many hikers carry around, but this is just one more reason why you shouldn't feel bad about cracking a bottle open post-workout.
