Openings & Closings: The Resurgence of Pony, Disappearance of Himitsu

Bottoms up! According to Capitol Hill Seattle, two new drinking establishments are in the works. The Living Room (1355 E. Olive Way) is moving into the old Anne Bonny space. Meanwhile, down the street, real estate agent David Yuchasz has applied for a liquor license at 1515 Bellevue Ave., Apt 101.

It appears that Himitsu Sushi & Grill in Ballard has been cleaned out by detectives rather than the Health Department. As My Ballard Blog reports, a new sign on the door states "...all occupants of these premises have been evicted by detectives of the King County Sheriff, and said premises have been restored to owner by order of the Superior Court."

Citizen Creperie (706 Taylor Ave N.) is rumored to be opening soon, although the Queen Anne View hasn't yet gotten details from owner Suzana Olmos. Given there's a crash shop next door, the creperie should profit from auto owners indulging in self-soothing behaviors.

Bainbridge Island, home of many good eats and craft boutiques, will have one less restaurant for tourists to duck into. Madoka, a pan-Pacific restaurant, will be closing its doors. Chef-owner Alvin Binuya tells the Times' Nancy Leson the wallet-strain of the economy and lack of foot traffic on the island led to the closure.

It's confirmed: temporary gay bar Pony, which took over the Cha Cha's old space on Pine until the building was turned into condos a parking lot, will reopen in permanent digs at 13th & Union on September 3.
