The Spanish Table Goes French
I'm pretty sure the blog Pat My Butter broke this (and has a far artsier pic). The Spanish Table is set to open a FRENCH deli and grocery right next store to its digs on Western Avenue. Called Contador, the store will sell a variety of cheeses, French groceries, and affordable wine. Contador (which sounds Spanish) will open within the month. Visit Pat My Butter for a fuller report.
Does this constitute a full-on challenge to DeLaurenti from its downstairs neighbor? When I was the wine buyer at DeLa, I sent people to Spanish Table all the time for groceries we didn't carry, but France... Me do believe that's a petit gauntlet being thrown down. Is there another empty spot close by for an Italian joint?
