Hockey Hour: Roanoke Tavern

roanoke_tav.jpg
If you're a hockey fan, you are marginalized when it comes to watching your favorite sport on television in a bar in this town. Seattle is pretty skatist, unless you count roller derby (four wheels good, two blades bad?). The Roanoke Tavern (not to be confused with a similarly named establishment on Mercer Island) offers a haven, and at least one TV for puck loving folk. During most night games, at least a handful of hockey fans converge on the bar, guaranteeing coverage. At the very end of Tenth Avenue East, completely Cousin Itted by ivy, the tavern is cozy and of humble decor on the inside. That ivy should be shockingly bright the next week or two, as will the greenery enclosing the back patio, which you should not ignore if the weather wills it. (Roanoke Tavern, 2409 10th Ave. E.)
