RIP, David Lake
The New York Times reports, along with other newspapers, the Oct. 5 death of David Lake, the Sammamish vintner renowned for helping found and foster the success of what became Columbia Winery.
Our Roger Downey called Lake an "enological sage" and saluted his success in establishing the Riesling in Northwest vineyards.
The Canadian-born Lake was also known for his work in developing cabernets, syrahs, and chardonnays. He is survived by his wife, Connie Sile-Lake. (See the Columbia Winery tribute page here.) Let's all raise a glass in memory.
