Deals: Anchovies & Olives...and Oysters, Caswell Cooks One Night a Week

Dine Around Seattle isn't the only deal in town right now.

Anchovies & Olives' Oyster Power Hour - The restaurant is too damn dark already at 5:00 p.m. for a photo, but every day from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m., you can get $2 Peroni (Italy's answer to Bud) or a $5 glass of bubbly to go with dollar oysters. The changing house selection will come dressed with a simple accompaniment like mignonette, pungent green olive oil or sorbet. The power hour repeats and doubles late night, from 10:00 p.m. to midnight when the kitchen also adds an $8 fish-n-chips special. (Anchovies & Olives, 1550 15th Ave.)

Emmer & Rye, One Night Only - Chef Seth Caswell's restaurant emmer & rye may be on hold, but he'll gladly cook for you on Tuesday. He'll be taking over the Art of the Table space in Wallingford (1054 N. 39th St.) each week for one night to cook dinner. Guests will have input, able to choose favorite ingredients from a list of four dozen or so kinds of produce, meat and other items sent out via email. Caswell will then cook a menu based on what guests want and what's fresh. You can sign up for the dinners by emailing tuesday@emmerandrye.com. These 5-course Tuesday dinners start at 7:00 p.m. and cost $65 per person--which includes tax, tip, AND wine and beer pairings (cash only). Please do not contact Art of the Table for this event.
