Dinner Plans Tonight? How About Basque?

As Joseba Jiménez de Jiménez prepares to depart his beloved Harvest Vine (the restaurant will be run by his soon-to-be-ex-wife), catch him teaming up with chef Philippe Thomelin at Olivar for a Spanish/French/Basque-themed six-course dinner. While Thomelin was born in France, the two chefs share a Spanish cooking background and an affinity for carefully crafted small plates. Basque cuisine offers the perfect confluence of flavors. This evening's menu includes such rich preparations as golden beet ravioli filled with txangurro (spider crabs), duck breast with black cherry compote, and braised oxtail cannelloni.

Time/Date: 7 p.m., Wed., Nov. 4.
Location: Olivar, 806 E. Roy St. Reservations at 322-0409.
Price: $60 plus tax and tip.
