New Vittles & Voices on Voracious, Including Mike Lewis

We imagine that reading the Voracious blog on a daily basis is similar to watching the Food Network: It just makes you want more food, whether in the form of online news or through actual physical consumption. To encourage such gluttony, we at Voracious are hereby pledging to give you more food and booze news, beginning today.

In addition to constant commentary from the likes of Jonathan Kauffman and Maggie Savarino, we're proud to announce that former Seattle P-I staff writer and "Under the Needle" columnist Mike Lewis (pictured) will begin blogging every weekday morning. Lewis has long been one of the area's more versatile, engaging writers, and recently fulfilled a lifelong dream of buying his own bar. We're thrilled to have him in our kitchen.

Lewis, Kauffman, and Savarino will be chiming in every day. But we've also got a menu of regular features that will appear on every day of the work week. Angela Garbes' Versus column, in which she pits two stellar dishes of the same ilk against one another, is moving to Mondays, and her chef interviews (Grillaxin') will now be divided into three parts--running Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday--to provide more depth. While Ask the Bartender and Top Five will continue to hold down their Tuesday and Wednesday slots, Bottomfeeder, formerly a print-only endeavor, will appear every Monday on Voracious (and will still appear on occasion in print).

You can also count on the weekly (every Thursday, aka "Thirstday") presence of First Call, in which Weekly staffers ask bartenders at various locales to whip up their--not our--favorite drinks. And each Friday will bring the clearly-themed Dinner & a Movie, the inaugural installment of which found us visiting Von's before taking in a screening of Up In the Air down the street at the Meridian 16.

We hope you enjoy our ever-expanding Voracious buffet, because we sure appreciate your presence at our table By the way, think I packed enough food puns into this bit? I, and we, are just warming up.
