Seattle's Top Five Wieners, As Chosen By a Wiener Dog

James the (sort of) Wiener dog.

According to international opinion (and thanks to Taco Bell), Chihuahuas are apparently connoisseurs of tacos. This got us thinking: Would other dogs be fans of the foods of their cultural heritage? For instance, are St. Bernards fond of fondue? Do Chinese Cresteds go for Cantonese or Szechuan?

And, most importantly, do Wiener dogs like wieners?

In the name of science and wonder, we went around downtown and bought five different wieners for our critic James, the cutest Wiener dog in Seattle. James is a Wiener dog mix, so we got him a mix of dogs - including both veggie and meat.

With no further ado, the Top Five wieners, according to James:

5. Taxi Dogs, Pike Place Market

Not much more than a bun, a wiener and some mustard. Although he eventually devoured it, James is a Wiener dog with standards and Taxi Dogs needs to step it up, if they want to sell their wieners to Seattle's doggies.

4. The Frankfurter, Alaskan Way, on the waterfront
Yet another bun, another wiener and some more mustard. However, we also get sauerkraut with this doggie, and that might be the reason why The Frankfurter avoided coming in last. Still, can a wiener get more boring?

3. Dog in the Park, The plaza across from Westlake Center.
This is more like it. Crispy cabbage and onions on a spicy wiener. The bun is toasted and there is mayo on the inside.

2. "California," Cyber-Dogs, 909 Pike St.
James is nothing if not a product of the Seattle lifestyle. Coming in second is the veggie dog "California," from internet café, Cyber-Dogs. With "bacon," salsa, onions and a whole lot a cheese, this vegetable delight was a treat for James
