Agua Verde Cafe: For Those Who Like to Eat Tacos and Kayak (But Not At the Same Time)
Sound like a rather thin demographic? Yeah, well it might be, but that doesn't mean it isn't working for the folks at Agua Verde Cafe & Paddle Club (1303 NE Boat Street). Matter of fact, it's working well enough, that they just announced they're going to be extending their hours to cover Sunday dinners at the Cafe, giving them a full two-a-day schedule throughout the week plus breakfasts on the weekends.![]()
And for those of us out there (read: me) who are always looking for new places (or excuses) to eat tacos, it's extra good news because Agua Verde's dinner menu is chock full of almost a dozen fancy-pantsy varieties--from simple carne asada and carnitas to somewhat less simple yam tacos with mild chiles, onions, cotija and creamy avocado sauce and Gulf shrimp with salsa, cabbage and curry aioli (really...?).
The kitchen also does a full Baja-style menu full of enchiladas and gorditas, daily specials (tamale Friday, baby!), and the cafe has a full bar for those who like to kayak, eat tacos and do tequila shots--though maybe not in that order.
All the information on the menu, the hours and the watercraft can be found at Agua Verde's website.
