Cinco de Mayo: Your Mini Guide to Celebrating in Seattle

Get your fake cough ready; you're going to be calling in "sick" to work on Thursday. Why? Because you're going to have drained the entire city's tequila inventory (and prayed to the porcelain gods) the night prior, celebrating Cinco de Mayo!

Here are the drinking destinations, offering everything from jello wrestling to a jalapeño-eating contest to mariachi music, that you want to hit up when you unleash your inner sorority girl college student on spring break in Cabo.

Olé!

Tacos Guaymas The Greenlake location throws a Cinco de Mayo Block Party, featuring three live bands, salsa dancing, and a beer garden. The Suaza girls will be onsite to tempt you with tequila shots and, if you feel especially feisty, you can enter the jalapeño-eating contest.

Pesos This is a no-brainer. They spent more on liquor over the past 12 months than any other bar in the state. The manager says it's because they only serve 100 percent agave tequila, we say you drink there on Cinco de Mayo.

Tiki Bob's Cantina "The Rojo Rumble," as they're dubbing it, features a red jell-o wrestling competition (presumably with hot, half-naked girls), $3 cans of Tecate, and $5 shots of Tarantula until midnight. Live music provided by DJ Victor Menegaux.

Bimbo's Bitchin' Burrito Kitchen A dance party (no cover) fueled by $2 cans of Tecate, as well as TBD Milagro Tequila drink specials. Live music provided by DJ Dark Justice.

Mama's Mexican Kitchen In the garage located behind the restaurant, Mama's hosts a party (4 p.m.-12 a.m.) offering for $6 and under: burritos, margaritas, tequila shots, jello shots, and beer. Entertainment by Mark Pickerel and His Praying Hands, plus burlesque dancers.

Aqua Verde Café If you absolutely must be at work tomorrow, this is a short and sweet (4-8 p.m.) party, featuring live Latin music, a beer garden serving $4 Negra Modelo Draft and $7 margaritas, plus complimentary chips and salsa to soak up all that booze before you hit the sack.
