West Seattle Loses New Dick's to Enthusiastic Everett

• I was born in Seattle in 1957. Having a "Dicks Burgers" in Lynnwood would be ideal,yet much as I could wish,I am not so sure. I have frequented all their locations over the years. They are all busy regardless of location so far. Building one at 617-128th would be a bad choice folks. It is difficult and often time consuming to get around in your car any time of the day. Not only that,you can expect to be delayed often to get out of the way of the racing Sno-Co Sheriff along with Paramedic Vans. Add that to a high crime area.NO THANKS!. 196th and 99 in Lynnwood seems okay,yet,it also is a traffic dilemma. You would have to go way past that spot and turn around. Then when you leave you are stuck traveling south on 99. Bothell-Everett Highway seems best of all from my experience traveling around here as long as I have. So that is my vote. Here is why: There is UW campus off of I-405 in Bothell not to far away. The Business Parks off this highway are massive at 405. The ability to avoid most traffic jams are a plus depending on the time of day. It is far enough away from the Lake City Dick's. Everett-Bothell Highway is a long and convenient stretch of road parallel to Hwy 99, I-5 and Highway 9. It will take you from downtown Bothell all the way to the access freeway by Everett Mall in which ends at Everett Boeing plant. I travel allot around the north Seattle area. The land cost along the Everett Bothell Highway is reasonable. Also,for us Lynnwood folk,it is a not so long jont over to the Everett Bothell Highway via 196th and 164th. That is a pretty good compromise for access up here. The only drawback could be how busy a Dick's on Everett Bothell Highway will be. It will be swamped regardless of the competition. To the south,you will have The Ranch burgers downtown Bothell, Jack In The Box off 405, Red Robin and DQ by Trasher�s Corner, Burgermaster by 180th, Mcdonald�s at 164th, Blazing Onion at Mill Creek Plaza, Jack In Box again off 132nd in Everett and then north a bit more is Wendy's by the new Winco Grocery Store. None of them can touch Dicks fast unique,cheap,simple,tasty burgers,terrific limp fries and shakes. Your in and out!..Done!.I guess we will see hopefully soon. I'm hungry. I'm going to Lake City right now. Mmmmmm!

• I think it was a brilliant and savvy marketing move on behalf of Dick's. I suspect the company had a pretty good idea where the next one should be and kudos to the north end folk for supporting the "campaign" to bring one to their neck of the woods. As for West Seattle, at least The Wing Dome is opening up there and soon! October?

• @JBL: No burger for you. Everett is perfect, bringing relief to an under-served area. 90 minute wait at the Mukilteo ferry dock? No problem. And if the fat hand of Greg Nichols still casts a shadow, we'll see a Westside Dick's sooner rather than later. Bellevue? Eastside cans suck on Burgermaster and Kemper Freeman.

• I live toward the south end of West Seattle and was really hoping for a Dick's to be located near me. However, if Dick's ends up in Everett, I'm fine with that. It's a classic, blue-collar city that deserves a Dick's. But putting one in Shoreline or really anywhere south of Lynnwood would be really stupid, given the proximity to the existing Lake City store. Ultimately, I'm just glad "East" came in least.

• Stop whining sore losers! Don't blame your lazy, good for nothing politicians for being defeated soundly! It's the same lazy attitude that lost us the Sonics and plenty of revenue from their store on Queen Anne! If I were Dick's V.I.P. I would open my next store outside of the Seattle area as well. Way to go northend. I'll take 2 deluxe, an order of fries and a chocolate shake...and 2 cheeseburgers for tomorrow's lunch!

• I am so glad they decided to choose Everet, as the next Dicks location. I was born and raised in Seattle, and use to walk up to the Dicks on Holman Rd and bring home dinner for the whole family, of course this was when Hamburgers were 26 cents, 11 cent Fries and dime drinks and 20 cents for milkshakes. Usually by the time I walked back down the hill to 6th N,.W alot of the fries were missing, I loved those fries, until they went and changed the oil they used to non polyunsaturated oils or something like that, it did change the taste a bit but they still have the same consistency as they always did. And now in the future when I come home to visit I don't have to drive all the way to Seatlle for my fix. It'll be closer to my sisters home, whereever they put it in Everett, now live in KY and they don't have anything that compares to Dicks, Oh they have McD/s and BK and Sonics but not the same. Thank you Dicks for making the right choice in position of your new Dicks.

• Strongly agree with R. Corwin... The political side of this poll had nothing to do with my vote. I live in Everett and am tired of having to go to the "Norm" (McD's, J.B. or B.K) to get my cheeseburger fix. I rarely go to Seattle and when I do there is always a must stop at Dick's. As far as Dick's not making money up here I think that's BS! Last I heard M'Ville (5 min N of Everett) was one of the highest Obese cities in Washington. Smart business for a fast food restaurant!!!

• Wow, sore losers. All I know is I heard about the poll on the local news, saw the link to the website on Facebook, followed it and voted- for Everett since I live near Paine Field. Cadidates, politicians and their resources had nothing to do with my vote. Im sure there were plenty of people like myself who voted who could care less about all of that BS and just want to get to a great burger quicker. Bring on the Dick's Deluxe, side of onions, fries, tartar/ketchup and a chocolate shake. Oh, and I always get two cheeseburgers to have for lunch the next day too. Looking forward to it!

• I agree w/ JBL and John D and...... West Seattle is the perfect neighborhood to support a Dick's restaurant. I'm disgusted

• There were many north sound residents who voted for Everett folks. I'm from Bellingham and voted for a Dick's for Everett. At least it's is accessible to the populace who resides in Northwest Washington. We voted and I'm glad that Dick's is remaining true to it's commitment. Next time get organized folks - you can't blame us for putting forth the effort!

• I'm sorry, but this poll was horse shit. For a business to base where to build the next franchise by conducting an online poll is, well...stupid business. If you take a look at all of the locations, the two northern most locations cast a wide net on that end of town. If I lived in Shoreline, I would be less than 10 minutes from the 125th location. The southern most location on Broadway does not at all cater to South Seattle. If I were to build the next Dick's, Safeco & Georgetown would be the most logical goldmine. You'd get the crowds from Pioneer Square, Safeco, Qwest, Boeing, ID, Shipyard...and the folks from West Seattle! Too bad the execs at Dick's are too much of a Dickhead to realize this.

• what? This was victim to politics? Well, as I suspected, the owner and management of Dick's knows a good thing when he sees it, so no disrespect to Everett, but West Seattle and Bellevue were non-political "grassroots" votes, so they still have validity. The true value is in those areas that weren't candidate driven, because when the campaign of politics stops, so do the constituents. Hey Dick's ... hint, hint!

• Why does this infer that the new Dick's would be in Everett? The Dick's press release only says "20 miles north" of Dick's in Wallingford. 20 miles north of 45th would be what locals call "Eastmont", or just the Everett Mall, Boeing, & Mukilteo exit, thankfully NOT downtown Armpit, uhh, Everett
