Seattle Weekly Destroyed in the Wing Dome 7-Alarm Challenge

The West Seattle Wing Dome invited local media outlets to bravely devour its spiciest wings for the 7-Alarm Challenge for Charity last night. The gist: Competitors get the option of eating a drumstick or a wing at each level of hotness. Those who successfully reach the 7-alarm level of heat have their beer and water taken away and must pound as many of these potent suckers as possible. The one who handles the most heat is declared the winner.

This reporter and clubs editor Erin Thompson stepped up to the plate and each managed to put away six and eight 7-alarm wings, respectively. It was undoubtedly our least attractive shared moment; tears rolling down our cheeks, eye makeup smeared, and Thompson even wondering aloud at one point, "Is my nose bleeding?"

KING 5 TV reporter Jesse Jones annihilated us and the rest of the competition, downing a dozen 7-alarm wings and describing the experience as feeling "like summer in my mouth."

The pain and shame media members were subjected to was in fact, to kick off Wing Dome's "Give Two Cents" promotion. Through the month of December, all locations will donate two cents to Northwest Harvest for every wing eaten.

Here's some information that may prove helpful to all you crazies customers who plan on ordering some 7-Alarms for kicks (seriously, what's wrong with you?) in the near future. The restaurant had first aid kits prepared for each of last night's contestants: a tall glass of milk and two ice cream sandwiches.

Here's a slideshow of all the hot, messy action.
