Agave Cocina & Cantina (Re)Opening in Redmond
Last month, Redmond lost a longtime spot for tacos and tequila--the Las Margaritas at 17106 Redmond Way in Bear Creek Town Center. The place had been around for decades, and had remained essentially stuck in amber since the 1970s.![]()
You're a long way from home, little buddy.
But owners Julian and Federico Ramos and their sister Faviola (who also own Agave Cocina & Tequilas in Issaquah) decided that, since a couple things have changed about Redmond since bell-bottoms and the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band were huge, maybe it was time to give the old place a little bit of a facelift.
And a total change in everything else.
So last month, Las Margaritas went dark, and the brothers and sister decided that they were going to replace it with something a bit more in keeping with modern tastes and styles--meaning "hand-crafted cuisine" that's "preservative and lard free, organic whenever possible" and decidedly more modern. It'll still be a Mexican restaurant, of course (and a big one, too, seating more than 200), but just a different kind of Mexican, offering beer-braised black beans and homemade tamales, chile rellenos, and halibut enchiladas.
The new-old space, which will be called Agave Cocina & Cantina, is scheduled to reopen April 5.
