Nick Cave and Art Institute Chefs to Join in Voracious Tasting Fun

Even without the news that visual/performance artist Nick Cave's Soundsuits would be invading the Paramount, April 27's Voracious Tasting is nearly a sellout, with but 22 VIP tickets remaining. Now, with word that Cave's soundsuits will indeed be conducting an onsite invasion like last week's at Bellevue Square, purchasing one of those final passes before extortionists like Mike Damone get their scalpels on them is of utmost importance.

While we've got you, we'd like to introduce you to the two Art Institute culinary students who will be assisting champion Seth Caswell (Emmer & Rye) and challenger Rachel Yang (Joule, Revel) during this year's Chef Showdown:

Jeromi Quincy, pairing with chef Rachel Yang: 30 years old from Auburn, Wash. 10-year Navy veteran. Previous air traffic controller. Says Quincy: "I have always had a passion for cooking since I was young. I think that food is the ultimate way to connect to/with people and share a piece of you with others. I am always curious about new foods and flavors and how to make common food items in different ways. I strive every day to learn something new and make myself a better cook. I hope to make food that speaks not only to people's tastebuds but to their soul. Outside the kitchen I enjoy spending time with my 4-year-old daughter and reading and watching Seattle sports teams. Also watch international soccer."

Jan Parker, pairing with chef Seth Caswell: "Currently, I am a kitchen assistant at Vulcan Inc. My previous kitchen adventure was cooking on yachts for catered events. I have also participated in the production of the Nick Stellino Show on PBS and the Food & Wine Festival in South Beach Florida. The Art Institute has given me the opportunity to experience food all over the world, as well as my travels during my childhood through the my father's career in the Navy and my husband's career in the Army. My hobbies include trying new and exciting restaurants, spending time with my two boys (Harrison and Ben), coaching volleyball, and hip-hop dance. Cooking brings me great joy, because I can remind people of a certain memory or create a new experience through food. It's connecting with people without having to engage a conversation."
