Cactus #4 Sets Sights on SLU, Mod Pizza Opens and Pita Pit Closes on Capitol Hill, and More
Here's a roundup of a busy week in restaurant news!

First off, in Belltown, an all-American diner is coming to 2630 First Ave. by mid-May. The Lucky Diner will feature down-home cooking like biscuits and gravy, hamburger steak and macaroni, and plenty of burgers and sandwiches.
On Capitol Hill, a new Italian lounge/restaurant called Varro is now serving coffee, cocktails, and antipasti at 1542 12th Ave. on Capitol Hill. MOD Pizza started slinging personal pies in the Joule Building at 519 Broadway Ave. E. over the weekend. This is the fourth installment of the local chain. And down the street, the last Pita Pit location in Seattle at 1513 Broadway Ave. has closed, citing financial struggles.
Downtown, an establishment called Durrow Abbey Restaurant and Bar has applied for a restaurant/ lounge license at 1921 First Ave.
In Fremont, another coffee shop is joining the neighborhood at 770 N. 34th St. Milstead & Company opens in May.
In Lake City, beloved neighborhood eatery LC's Kitchen at 8007 Lake City Way N.E. closed after a seven-year run on Saturday.
In Phinney Ridge, Chocolat Vitale, a local maker of European-style hot chocolate that operates as a web and wholesale business, is debuting its first retail store at 6257 Third Ave. N.W. An opening date has not yet been set.
On South Lake Union, Cactus is opening a fourth location in the new Amazon.com headquarters at the northwest corner of Terry Avenue North and Harrison Street. The restaurant is scheduled to start serving its Mexican and Southwestern-influenced cuisine by late summer.
And lastly, in the U District, a new restaurant opened last weekend at 4754 University Way N.E.. Nook focuses on comfort cuisine, including housemade buttermilk biscuits, chicken pot pie, and meatloaf sandwiches.
