Best of Seattle: Readers' Favorite Burgers

redmillpic.jpg
Seattle Weekly readers are a heavy-eating and -drinking bunch, but a number of them set down their forks and steins to record their choices for the city's best spots for corned beef, coffee, and curry--among other critical edibles. Over the coming weeks, we'll be sharing their selections on Voracious. And while the cliché that "If you don't vote, you can't complain" may hold true elsewhere, we welcome your rants about oversights and misjudgments in the comments section below.

Medals are awarded based on vote tallies, and the readers' decisions are final. Until next year.

GOLD: Red Mill Burgers
Best of Seattle Readers' Choice Winner

Red Mill has won the Reader's Choice poll 10 years running, a feat that speaks to the strength of its flavorful, flame-broiled patties. But for eaters who don't think juicy meat alone can define burger glory, Red Mill offers an array of possible toppings, including thick-cut pepper bacon, caramelized red onions, and of course Mill sauce, a housemade mayonnaise with smoky undertones. Even better, the grill cooks here know how to properly assemble a burger, meting out toppings in correct proportions and making sure the cheese melts.

SILVER: Dick's Drive-In

Dick's was the first fast-food restaurant in Seattle, and first in most Seattleites' hearts, but its freshly made were rated second-best by Weekly readers. Sorry, Dick's.

BRONZE: Lunchbox Laboratory

The anti-Dick's, Lunchbox Laboratory has earned national attention for its pricy burgers built exactly to customer specifications. And customers have plenty from which to choose, including four different meats and 20 different sauces, making it entirely possible--if not advisable--to dine on a duck-and-pork patty garnished with havarti, green chiles, and pineapple mayonnaise. Fans swear by the sloppy results.
