Canlis Baker to Open Shop on Capitol Hill, Portland Sustainable Sushi Chain Expands to Seattle, & More
First off, in Ballard, Po Dog owner Laura Olson is launching gourmet wiener eatery no. 3. No other details have been released. Also in the neighborhood, a new Italian restaurant called The Fat Hen opens in the former A Caprice Kitchen space at 1418 N.W. 70th St. this week, and beloved neighborhood bar Bad Albert's at 5100 Ballard Ave. N.W. is up and running again.

Belltown will become home to the second location of the International District's popular Vietnamese eatery Green Leaf. Residents can expect to see the business open at 2800 First Ave. in the next two to three months.
On Capitol Hill, Tamara Murphy's highly anticipated restaurant Terra Plata has opened at 1501 Melrose Ave. It features Mediterranean-influenced "earth to plate" cuisine. Another big name - former Canlis baker Neil Robertson - is searching the neighborhood for a small space to open a shop called Crumble & Flake.
In the Central District, Madrona Wine Merchants is up and running at 1127 34th Ave. Its focus is on wines from around the world that are affordable enough for daily drinking, a majority in the $10-20 price range.
In South Lake Union, Portland-based sustainable sushi chain Mio Sushi launches its first Washington restaurant at 120 Westlake Ave. N. in South Lake Union on Monday, October 31. The chain also has plans to open shops in Redmond and Issaquah.
Lastly, south of Seattle in Kent, Cal's Classic American is now open at 504 Ramsay Way, Suite 107, in Kent today. The restaurant serves hearty American fare and cocktails.
