Therapeutic Decadence: Chocolate-Dipped Chocolate-Chip Cookie

​I don't mind conceding the point that dipping a chocolate-chip cookie in chocolate is an act of decadence. Taking a fine-as-it-is, complete-in-itself treat and then doubling down with another layer of sticky sweetness couldn't accurately be described as an act of moderation. But then again, everybody since Mary Poppins has known that sometimes it takes a spoonful of sugar to help the medicine go down.

That's the theory behind Sensi Sweets, a line of cannabis medibles I discovered recently when visiting Have-a-Heart CC in north Seattle. As I looked around Have-a-Heart's medibles case, my eyes kept wandering back to that irresistibly lumpy cookie.

"2X Chocolate Chip Cookie Dipped In Medicated Chocolate," the label read. "Dosage: Eat 1/2, Wait 1 Hour, Eat other 1/2 if Needed."

The medicated chocolate melts in your hands as you have the cookie. Lick your fingers!

Budtender Cole underlined the label's advice, telling me I really should gauge the effects of the first half of the cookie before consuming the second. And, for many patients, that's probably good advice, I thought as I meditatively chomped my way through the entire treat.

That chocolate which encases the (delicious, fresh) chocolate-chip cookie inside is more than just another layer of decadent delight: It's also the carrier for the medicine. Cannabutter (cannabis-infused butter) is used in making the chocolate, thus lending the cookie its oomph.

The onset of effects does indeed take about an hour; once they've settled in (a heavy body high, with great pain relief and stress reduction), you should wait at least two hours, preferably three, before you operate heavy machinery or do that trigonometry homework.
