Reopened Gainsbourg's Happy Hour Brings Sexy Back to Greenwood

The Hours: Happy Hour is from 4-6 and 11-close every day and runs all day on Monday. Happy Hour food specials are served from 4-6pm, daily.

The Digs: A recent kitchen fire has given Gainsbourg the chance to sensibly reconfigure. A gorgeous, custom built bar makes room for several tables that can now easily accommodate large parties, however there are still small, intimate tables and snuggly booths that stay true to its original charm. The décor is as you remember, a combination of Surrealist NW and Francophile ala Williamsburg. The "Twin Peaks" room remains, as do the portraits of establishment namesake Serge Gainsbourg and his lady love Ms. Birkin.

The Deal: If you're in the market for a full service meal, the Gainsbourger comes basic for $6, but can be topped with tempting add-ons like Gruyere, Bacon, Fourme d'Ambert Bleu or Black Forest Ham for a buck a pop. Roasted Beet Salad and the Soup du Jour are $4, while nibbles like a generous serving of (and perfect introduction to) escargot and mixed olives can be had for $3. $2 gets you a pile of shoe string frites with a yummy, homemade, clove-heavy Ketchup or a dense, sliced baguette.

Gainsbourg has a wide selection of absinthe based drinks for a $1 off during happy hour and drink specials include $2 off well drinks, $1 off all beer, wine & specialty cocktails.

The Verdict: Gainsbourg is a sexy, sexy bar. Every thing about this joint from the racy photos of Jane Birkin, to the provocatively named Fromage a Trois cheese plate and the decadent Death in the Afternoon (a little absinthe in your Cava) cocktail, to its deep and abiding respect for the kind of low lighting that helps everyone look 28, makes Gainsbourg's happy hour the perfect spot to suggest and successfully negotiate your next three way.
